![]() ------PHOTOGRAPHY COURSES '09--------- "The starters' comprehensive introduction to landscape photography". These courses are aimed at SLR users (film or digital) and, over two days, provide a fundamental grounding in the techniques of composition, exposure, focussing, lighting and filters. Please contact Chris for more details. New for '09: Chris is also now available for one-to-one photography tuition. ---------------------------------------------------ABOUT CHRIS-------------------------------------------------------------- Chris has lived in Rutland, England for 25 years. For most of this time he lived on the Hambleton Peninsula in the middle of Rutland Water. From there he explored the local area in his then rare free time from the successful business career that was his first "life". It was only after early retirement in 2001 that he dusted off an old 35mm SLR film camera to record the landscapes during his walks along the footpaths throughout the County. His initial project - a unique two year photographic study of Rutland Water - has resulted in his first book, “Moods of Rutland Water” which was published by Halsgrove in March 2005. Some of the images from that book are included on this site, along with a collection of photographs from his recent wanderings slightly further afield. In 2006, Chris was encouraged to photograph some of Rutland's most prestigious private gardens; the images shown here are reproduced with the kind permission of the owners. He now regularly undertakes private landscape and garden commissions. In 2007, he began to work further afield; undertaking a study of the Derbyshire Peaks, in particular the area of and around Kinder Scout. Chris also began working with the Rutland Falconry & Owl Centre, producing a series of images of their stunning birds of prey. In 2008, Chris continued to work mostly away, making extended trips to the Northumberland Coast, Exmoor, Dartmoor and the Lake District. In 2009, Chris will begin to explore the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. We hope you enjoy your visit.
